FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Both 'counselling' and 'psychotherapy' are umbrella terms for talk therapy within the context of confidentiality and clear ethical boundaries. Generally psychotherapy is longer term work - at a deeper level; whilst counselling or coaching is more solution focused - working with a more narrow focus, on a specific issue or goal. With my clients - the time scale, depth and direction of the work is determined by you. I will support you to identify your own goals and come to your own conclusions and decisions, with our work together having as its purpose - effective change and/or your enhanced wellbeing.
Our work is confidential, I’m regularly supervised, though will never share your full name with my supervisor. As a registered member of the BACP I am bound by its ethical framework. You can read how we manage issues relating to confidentiality here.
THE SESSION, FEES & CANCELLATION POLICY
The length of a session is a therapeutic hour (this is 50 minutes) and the cost is £50. Payment can be made by cheque, cash or directly into my account. If paying by cheque please do so at the start of the session. I operate a 48 hour cancellation policy (except in emergency).
